The Power of Intuition, At Its Worst - 1127 Words

Prior to the miniscule reign of Macbeth, countless people were murdered. This included everyone that threatened Macbeth emotionally and also everyone in relation to that character. For instance, when Macbeth had Duncan killed Malcolm and Donalbain (Duncan’s sons) fled. Likewise when he had the murderers kill Banquo, Banquo’s son Fleance managed to escape. The last person to worry about was Macduff. Although he could not kill Macduff, due to his conciliation in England, he did go after everyone that resided in his home. This concluded Macbeth’s â€Å"thought out† plan to become King. However, the blood from these innocent families brought only guilt to Macbeth’s conscience; so why did he do it? Many say that he was driven by Lady†¦show more content†¦The paranoia that he was experiencing just acts as a symptom of the â€Å"drug†. After the deaths of Duncan and Banquo there was only one more person that Macbeth had to worry about. Macduff was the only other nobleman that Macbeth desired to throw out of the echelons. When Macbeth was presented with this problem it was very difficult to execute. This task was hard because Macduff fled to England to take himself out of what seemed to be a never ending death raid (*) Before Macbeth made his move on Macduff he had to return to the witches for more advice. To Macbeth’s surprise the witches had an unknown power that he had never experienced before. Right before Macbeth’s eyes an apparition appeared and said, â€Å"Macbeth, Macbeth, Macbeth, Beware Macduff. / Beware the Thane of Fife† (4.1.81-2). This quickly exacerbated Macbeth’s thoughts about Macduff. Though things were not looking to good the second apparition appeared. This apparition in the form of a bloody child said, â€Å"Be bloody, bold, and resolute. Laugh to scorn/ The power of man, for none of a woman born/ Shall harm Macbeth† (4.1.90-2). At this point Macbeth is feeling as though he has a shot at becoming King. With his confidence boosted he wants to know more, thus the third apparition appears. The crowned child with a tree in hand said, â€Å"Macbeth shall never vanquished be until/ Great Birnham Wood to high Dunsinane Hill/ Shall come agains t him† (4.1.105-7).
